•  Take measurements with athletes in underwear
or swimsuits.

•  Measure fullest part of bust—make sure tape is
level across back.

•  Measure torso from the “V” at the base of the
throat, around through the crotch, to the bump in
the back at the base of the neck.

•  Provide any comments that will provide
information that will assist in proper fit (very
narrow hips, waist larger than bust, etc.)

•  Provide regular practice suit size (not the extra
tight fit that might be worn for speed swimming.)
• Look at the fabric swatches provided.  The most accurate representation of how the suit will look
during competition requires that you wet the swatches, stretch them, and examine them in good
light.  If a swatch is somewhat sheer, don’t worry, the suit will be fully lined.

• Sheer fabrics that you want to “disappear” should always be wet and placed on the skin to
determine correct tone for your suit/s.

• Look at all swatches from a distance of at least several feet and at different angles.  We are
producing costumes that will be seen from a distance, wet, and in motion.  These conditions can
alter your decision.  What looks good up close may not have the most impact in the competitive
environment.

• Provide measurements and sizes for the athlete/s.
